Actually, how about a mandatory parting of the ways every 10 years with a 50/50 distribution of wealth and the possibility of remarriage for a small license fee after a minimum of 3 months. I wonder if couples would be more prone to stay together or to leave...

Actually, civil marriages should be granted to and be available to every American. And, for those who choose NOT to have a "godly-church-wedding," divorce should always be an option. However, those self-righteous "xns" who get a church-sanctioned marriage should NEVER be allowed to divorce. Never EVER! The wholly buy-bull says that no man can put asunder what Jehovah joins together. If marriage is a state-sanctioned, civil right, then Jehovah has NOTHING to do with it: divorce is, therefore an option.

We, Filipinos, are very traditional when it comes to marriage. At least I am. I believe that marriage is a lifetime commitment with your partner and God. A strong marriage must have God in the mix and to be fully committed before one enters into. We should not take marriage lightly and respect it. Let us take our time knowing our partner to be and pray to God to guide us on our decisions. When marriage is getting hard, work it out and ask for God to heal what is wrong within the marriage. I strongly believe in healing and family that prays together stays together. We regularly go to mass, specially healing mass like Healing Eucharist on href="http://www.TheFilipinoChannel.ca"> TFC The Filipino Channel</a> for Filipinos abroad. I am married man and I have peace knowing God is beside me when I am facing challenges in my marriage.

I know this is satire and all but I wish someone would try, It would show what an utter farce laws like Prop 8 are. While we are at I think it would be equally titilating to try and pas a bill abolishing the protection of religion under the law, after all religion is a CHOICE right?

@GSH
The Biblical laws having dominion over everyone wether they think so or not is just the kind of thinking that gets Jew's thrown into an oven, Blaks cast into chains, and daughters and sons beheaded to protect a families honor. I am sure we can agree that in an enlightened society we can allow people to follow thier own beliefs or lack of them where they do not cause harm to another.

Oh come on, you know the real answer. It's because all those good heterosexual husbands are just dying to jump the fence and get gay married. Really, you DON'T want to legalize gay marriage. Think of the floods of newly divorced and desperately horny Mormons who will be knocking down your door looking for satisfaction! I mean, have you SEEN how those guys DRESS? Ugh! Please, for everyone's sake, keep gay marriage illegal and keep them safely trapped in their fake heterosexual marriages where they won't bother the rest of us. It's better this way for everyone! And don't even get me started on the Evangelicals. You don't want to go there!
