I conducted two interviews about the initiative last night. I can’t tell you about the first one, yet. But the second was an online chat with Rob Cockerham of Cockeyed fame. We covered the main points of the initiative and what we hope it will accomplish
Becasue Rob is a machine that doesn’t appear to need sleep, he posted the entire interview on his site late last night. It was done viat Gtalk, and you can play a fun game where you try to spot my typos.

Good idea, calling your potential supporters “sinners.” I’m not gay, but I’m still not supportive of your act. Gay marriage is not currently a right, but divorce is, and people aren’t going to just give up their rights like that. Gay marriage doesn’t work the same way that divorce works, and you really shouldn’t compare them, even though they’re things you clearly don’t like. The religious values you discuss in your interview have some very strong, divisive, and offensive views to those who don’t share them with you. I’m glad I’m an atheist so that I don’t have to associate myself with those views.
I’m so glad that one thing that bonds us fundamentalist Christians and atheists like you is our ability to read everything literally. Strange bedfellows, huh?
Yours in Palin,
Joe the Plumber
“Gay marriage is not currently a right.” Yes it is. Or rather, it was until the morons who supported Prop 8 got their way. Unlike divorce, which has no constitutional protection, the California Constitution protected the rights of people to get married regardless of gender. Prop 8 amended the Constitution to take that right away.
Straight Prop 8 supporters should be happy to give up their rights to protect traditional marriage. They didn’t seem to mind asking gay people to give up theirs…
Since you are viewing marriage as a religious sacrament, this act shouldn’t apply to non-Christian marriages since they are not neccesarily taking an oath before the Christian God. The very first ammendment gives us freedom of religion, yet this would punish people who break an oath given before God. That isn’t the American governments job. I think you are just upset people are taking an oath before God and not taking it seriously. I’m not sure what the government has to do with this problem. What if a spouse cheats (breaking a Christian commandment)? No divorce then either?
If your wife cheats, clearly you’re allowed to stone them in the town center. Says it in the bible.
It also says that if she lets herself go and gains more than 20 lbs more than her wedding weight, you can stone her or divorce her with Baby Jesus’s full blessing.
You are my new hero. That interview just kept getting better and better, and shame on anyone that doesn’t get what you are trying to accomplish.
Good luck, and God speed!
God’s speed.. hehe.. good one.
100 points. I also wish I could “thumbs up” Trevor’s reply above.
About Trevor’s reply:
So you think it should be LEGAL to execute people publicly if they cheat on their husbands?
Yes! This is a Christian Nation and if you don’t like it you can LEAVE. Go get divorced in France and enjoy your hell.
It’s funny that only the Christians call this country a Christian Nation.
According to Wikipedia, 76% of Americans identify themselves as Christian. It’s a lot, but it’s only slightly higher than the percentage of Americans who are white: 74%. I hope you won’t start calling this a White Nation, too.
Jon: If you can’t accept that this is a Christian nation, go to Kenya (where Obama was born) and live among the billions of Muslims that live there. And yeah! Get divorced in France!
If you’re going to quote one thing from the bible then quote them all.
You don’t get to pick and choose what God says is truth and what isn’t.
For the record, I’m not a Christian. Just using the old “its in the Bible!” arguement.
You’re right! Once we get this one in the books I say our next move is against shell fish. It is an abomination afterall.
The Bible is very, very clear about this.
- Don’t eat shellfish, unless you like eating them.
- Don’t eat mixed-fabric garments, unless you like them.
- Stone homosexuals.
- Don’t divorce your wife, unless she gains 20 lbs and lets it all go.
As a Judeo-Evangelico-Pentecostal-Baptist nation, we are obligated to follow the law of the Bible.
Divorce is a sin. My parents divorced when I was 12 and it screwed up my life. I’m 31 years old now and I will do whatever it takes to nullify that divorce so we can be a family again. I can’t wait until 2010 so we can vote this thing through. Rescue marriage now!!!
THAT’S THE SPIRIT!
Now once this glorious, God-fearing, Palin-loving law passes, do we know:
- when would be the deadline to get divorced?
- which countries allow divorce?
- how much does a visa and round-trip plane ticket cost to those countries?
Just curious!
God will strike DEAD all those who think like this!
Don’t you TRY TO GIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT A HANDJOB!
Hey Joe the Plumber, I’ve got a really bad smell coming from my dishwasher. It’s a Bosch, only a few months old. Should I have bought American? Yours in Christ, Unclebunk
My parents divorced when I was two and my dad died when I was four. That sucked, but God doesn’t fuck around.
*sigh*
I wish I still lived in CA so I could help get this passed. Maybe I could get something started here in CO. Marriage is just as important here as it is there. At least, it should be.
Simply awesome, well done sir!
Just caught your interview on Cockeyed. I’m a moderate conservative… want to kiss you.
*oh wait, that was the outside voice.
Anywho, I’m very happily married and from the great State of Idaho so that leaves me with few possibilities but to dream. What steps would you recommend I take to start a ballot initiative of my own in my lovely state?
Thank you for calling it as you see it. I appreciate your insight and approach!
I support this man. As a non-orthadox Jew, I find it important that this country not only be forced to recognize the new testament, but let’s not forget the good ol’ fashioned wrath!
This country has become a pit of sin and drudgery, and it’s up to us and Fox News to make things right!
You are 100% absolutely f@%#*ing INSANE!! This here America is NOT a Christian nation. I can promise you that if a law like this would happen which it would not, the murder rate in your state would rise threefold! That is what you are promoting, murder. The “if I can’t have you nobody can” mentality. The “you are my wife/husband and I can abuse you, and you like it” mentality. This is asinine, and arguing with you about that fact would be like arguing with a piece of dog turd in the grass.
Amy, you write pretty hot. Will you abuse me if I come to Minnesota? I’m a good Christian man, but I wouldn’t try to convert you or anything. And let’s forget the dog turd stuff. That’s icky.
@Amy in MN: A dog turd? Not a table?
yes, a dog turd. I didn’t want to be too much of a “copy cat”.
