They say it’s satire but if this bill pass divorce will be Illegal and keep people from entering “lightly” into marriage, we can use this as a mold to mature us in conflict resolution, help us keep open the lines of communication, what success we would have across the board if we kept open the lines of communication in.

For those who missed it, the ‘Best Persons’ named was not actually John… it was Prop 8 Supporters and their potential comeuppance as John was now allowed to collected signatures. As EveningStar alludes to, Keith does use his ‘Best Persons’ list to highlight usually dumb criminals or other such stupidity. In this case, the stupid ones are those who supported prop 8 and feel that ‘traditional marriage’ must be protected at all costs against equality under the law for all to marry… yet divorce is still permitted, dare I say rampant. This protects marriage…….. how?
As a gay man who did get married to my partner of 15 years, done of course before my civil rights were put to public vote, I too support this initiative and have always believed that if you want to ‘protect’ marriage, then divorce must be outlawed. Certainly gays and lesbians cannot be the reason why the current divorce rate hovers around 50%.
If I may also ask, has anyone had their marriage damaged, destroyed or torn asunder as a result of my being married under then California law? Does my marriage impact you in a negative fashion and if so, how?
Before anyone tries to tag me as a hypocrite, there is a huge difference between Prop 8 which codified and legalized discrimination against a small segment of the population which simply also wanted to also enjoy the rights, privileges and responsibilities of a civil marriage….. and this potential prop which is applied across the board to ALL persons equally.

Why do you write falsehood? If a person is saved by the grace of God, they are given a new heart and and new spirit. They are born again and essentially have a new nature that is highly concerned to obey God after their conversion. If a person who lived a life of sexual sins/perversions becomes saved from the wrath of God through the gift of grace by the righteousness of Jesus Christ through faith in His blood, then the saved person would be considered a child of God. The saved person is made a partaker of the divine nature and will begin to understand the awfulness of their past sins and be given strength and guidance by the Holy Spirit of God to turn away from the previous ungodly practices. Therefore they basically are no longer considered “homosexuals”. Sinners saved by grace maybe, but the label “homosexual” is dead.

I am a right-winged conservative and I would almost rather see Obama than you. Your idea of Rescuing Marriage should first address the huge issue of Domestic Abuse. This is a problem that is out-of-control not only among secular America but among the rather nieve Christian community, of which I am apart of. I only wish I could do something to address this. Rescuing Marriage needs to start there before forcing people to stay in marriages that can be violent. I agree with the principle but you are ignoring a large problem specifically in California where the laws are already on the side of the abuser.
