As one who was in an abusive marriage, divorce is the best way possible. I thank God that he didn’t kill me while he was choking me.
So you had at least 2 marriages that were abusive? Sounds to me like you are the problem. First, you bail out as soon as the going gets rough. You don’t have the commitment and determination needed to make a marriage successful! Second, there are always two sides to the story, and if you have two ex’s out there, they must feel like you were somewhat at fault. Maybe you are hard to get along with or you are abusive yourself. Let me guess, they started to drink and then they started to smack you around a little. Wonder why they started drinking? At very least, you are not choosing the right people to be in a relationship with! Why should the institution that I hold sacred be desecrated by your mess of a personal life?

You think if you are LGBT or whatever that you are above having bad relationships? Think again, I worked at a social service agency for people with AIDS (gay, straight and transgender) and I sat and listened to all of them talk about their physically and emotionally abusive relationships!! Get over it! What perfect sexual orientation do you know of? There is none. So quit trying to seek a new orientation and accept the one you were born with and focus on making a relationship work-whether or not you don’t like it. Work on what’s inside of your heart, not what’s on the outside of your skin!

That being said, committment needs to be reinforced and we need to teach couples how renew their love and committment when difficulties arise or “feelings” wane. Love is a choice not just a feeling. …..too many men and women leave for selfish reasons and the kids DO pay for it for a lifetime.
