Former Republican presidential hopeful and current ordained minister and Fox News host Mike Huckabee knows family values. And in a recent interview, he made it perfectly clear that gays and lesbians should not be allowed to marry, have civil unions, or especially to adopt children.
Huckabee went on to draw parallels between homosexuality and other lifestyles that are considered by some to be morally aberrant. “You don’t go ahead and accommodate every behavioral pattern that is against the ideal,” he said of same-sex marriage. “That would be like saying, well, there are a lot of people who like to use drugs, so let’s go ahead and accommodate those who want to use drugs. There are some people who believe in incest, so we should accommodate them. There are people who believe in polygamy, so we should accommodate them.”
He also affirmed support for a law in Arkansas that prohibits same-sex couples from becoming adoptive or foster parents. “I think this is not about trying to create statements for people who want to change the basic fundamental definitions of family,” Huckabee said. “And always we should act in the best interest of the children, not in the seeming interest of the adults.”
“Children are not puppies,” he continued. “This is not a time to see if we can experiment and find out, how does this work?”

It takes a bold man to proudly proclaim that children are not puppies. It takes a bolder man to make sure that the public understands the dangers of homosexual couples adopting. Sure almost every single child in foster care was removed from the care of a heterosexual couple who lost their right to parenthood through either abuse or neglect, but which is actually worse: A mother who puts cigarette butts out on a child’s arm? Or the risk that a child might be repeatedly exposed to Lisa Minnelli albums?

two people who deeply love each other get married, they have a kid and raise that kid to have good morals and values, and to go on to be successful in life and follow their dreams.

suddenly this isn’t a “good” or “traditional” family? I mean WTF
first of all, two homo’s cant “have” a baby. Secondly, if they obtained one through an artificial means, they certainly are not capable of raising it with good morals when they themselves are living in sin. The only chance the poor child has is to seek God on their own, and pray they are taken from this debauchery.
Now let us imagine this couple, with good moral values and all, gets a divorce because as it turns out, the husband was having an affair with his 22 year old secretary. The sad part of this situation is, this one is more likely than the gay couple situation because, oh yeah, gay couples have an extremely hard time getting married and adopting kids. Good morals eh? It sure sounds like a traditional family though… getting divorced, husband cheating on this wife, wife cheating on his husband, kid growing up in a broken home… this is what you meant about a traditional family, right?
Actually, Jack, two “homos” can have a baby–through natural and artificial means. They can have children from previous relationships and blend a family, they can have donors and surrogates, they can adopt/foster. Notice that hetero couples do all these same things too. You should know better than to assume that all “natural” ie straight couples can have children the “natural” way. Also, we are all “living” in sin in one way or another. And while some (living in sin) ways are proven to be very destructive and detrimental to a child’s well-being, like living with an addict or abusive parent, others, such as living with a loving couple who actually wants them, not actually a sin in my opinion, have not been. Also, you should examine your own life and moral failings before you condemn someone to Hell. Because when it comes down to it, will God judge me for loving, or you for hating?
What happens if the US government sues California for passing something that goes against the DOMA? (Defense of Marriage Act)… oh wait wasn’t legalizing gay marriage (when it was legal) technically against the Federal Enforcement of a law created by Bill Clinton, a Democrat?!
I couldn’t agree more with Todd, who wrote “The only chance the poor child has is to seek God on their own, and pray they are taken from this debauchery.” God knows there is absolutely no abuse or child molestation in our great Religious Organizations. Perhaps the child should find comfort from a Priest or a friendly Boy Scout Leader.
