If divorce was banned, the murder rate wouldn’t go up, but adultery would become perfectly acceptable. It would be a death blow for marital fidelity. However, if that’s what it takes to see same sex marriage come in, it’s worth it.

I second that! Why should we be able to pick & choose which parts of the Bible to follow. Futhermore, if the whole issue is religion and there is supposed to be a separation of church & state, then marriage itself should not legally be recognized!

Yeah, I tried to no avail to explain this to one of my friends who lives in CA. But instead, she just came back with “people have the right to get a divorce”… *sigh* She didn’t listen to me AT ALL.

Er, the “do” goes with the “we” not with the “DEATH”, sorry.

Actually it has nothing to do with the subjunctive. It’s inverted syntax. The “do” goes with the “we,” not with the “Does.” — We do part. Til death do we part — We do part only in death. See?

“’til death do WE part.” sounds grammatically more correct to me.
