Instructions

Here is the secret “members only” location of the petitions that will have to suffice until I can get some free time to update the site. Download the instructions and petition to start.

You need to read the instructions thoroughly before attempting to gather signatures. There are laws about collecting signatures, and if you don’t follow them, you can face criminal charges. If you have any questions about the “rules,” send me an e-mail at info@rescuemarriage.org.

The goal of the initiative is to make people think and to initiate conversations about the issues surrounding Prop 8. We are not trying to “punish” anyone or “get even.” If that is your goal, please respect my wishes and do not associate yourself with the movement. We want to change hearts and minds — not harden them.

Avoid getting into arguments with political ideologues. No one ever sees someone arguing politics with a jerk: they see two jerks arguing about politics. Don’t get caught up in arguments. They are counterproductive.

I recommend gathering signatures in friendly places to start. Have a signing party. Walk around with a clipboard at a festival. Hit up a college.

You can gather signatures at pretty much any public place. Courts have ruled that even malls and Wal*Marts can be considered “public places” with full First Amendment rights, but you never know how the store management, rent-a-cops or police are going to interpret those rules. Generally, it’s best to ask for permission first. Many stores will have guidelines for you to follow. Follow their rules and you should have smooth sailing.

I would like to help make divorce illegal in California this year really bad. I am gay and married my husband wants a divorce but I absolutely do not believe in divorce what so ever I think that if two people make a choice like that then it should be permanate and marriage is not a game of go stop then go again. I also think legal separation should be illegal too.

  4. Mary Ann Heerschap says:

I am doing research for a case to the U.S. Supreme Court to make unilateral divorce unconstitutional. Any pertinent legal case research should be sent to this email: ama.deus.cs@gmail.com by May 1. Thank you.
